LibNFT is an R&D initiative exploring the impact of blockchain and the digital asset economy on library archives. Funded by firms including the Pearl Fund and Skilltype, the project aims to identify long-term solutions for the economic sustainability of digitized collections. Team members include Brian Phillips (Pearl Fund), Tony Zanders (Skilltype), Michael Meth (San Jose State University), K. Matthew Dames (University of Notre Dame), and Meredith Evans (Jimmy Carter Presidential Library).

“A cluster of breakouts will discuss emerging technologies, including a session on the provocative LibNFT project, which aims to explore the use of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) to mitigate the costs of digitizing and preserving distinctive collections.”
